DIY Cinnamon Lip Plumping Gloss (All-Natural, Hydrating, & Easy to Make)

DIY Cinnamon Lip Plumping Gloss (All-Natural, Hydrating, & Easy to Make)

If you love a naturally fuller-looking pout but hate the stingy, chemical-filled glosses on store shelves, you’re going to be obsessed with this simple DIY. Using just a few nourishing ingredients and a touch of Cinnamon Essential Oil, you can create a hydrating, warm-tingle lip gloss that enhances your lips without harsh additives.

This recipe works because each ingredient actually does something for your skin, not just for the aesthetic payoff, but for long-term lip health.

Why This DIY Works

Coconut Oil: Deep Moisture & Silky Texture

Coconut oil creates that smooth glide we love in a gloss while keeping your lips soft and protected. Its natural fatty acids help lock in moisture (perfect for dry or winter lips).

Cinnamon Essential Oil: A Gentle, Natural Plump

Cinnamon encourages circulation near the surface of the skin. That slight increase in blood flow is what gives the lips a temporary fuller look. It should feel warm and tingly—not painful.

Important: Always dilute essential oils, calculate the correct drops for correct dilution, and spot-test first. Essential Oils are very powerful, especially Cinnamon.

Honey: Humectant Magic

Honey draws moisture into the skin and helps your gloss feel richer and more soothing. It’s a game-changer for chapped lips.

Vitamin E Oil: Nourishment + Shelf-Life Support

Vitamin E helps protect and nourish delicate lip skin while acting as a natural antioxidant to keep your gloss fresh longer.

How to Make Your Plumping Lip Gloss

  1. Mix the Base
In a small bowl, combine coconut oil, honey, vitamin E, and 1-3 drops of Cinnamon Oil.

  2. Blend Well
Stir until everything becomes smooth and fully incorporated. You can heat it up ever so slightly in the microwave if needed to incorporate.

  3. Bottle It Up
Transfer the mixture into a small lip balm tin or cosmetic container with a lid.

  4. Apply & Enjoy
Use your finger or a lip brush to swipe on a small amount.
You’ll feel a warm, light tingle as the cinnamon does its thing.

Tips for the Best (and Safest) Results

  • If you have sensitive skin, stick to one drop of Cinnamon Oil or exclude the oil completely.

  • When using essential oils in DIYs, be sure to use Jade Bloom’s dilution calculator to calculate the correct amount to use when diluting.

  • Avoid applying the balm to broken or cracked lip skin, only to healthy, moisturized, nonsensitive lips.

  • Store in a cool place—coconut oil melts easily. (I store mine in the fridge when not in use)

  • If irritation occurs, wipe off immediately and re-formulate with less or no Cinnamon Oil.

This DIY is a perfect example of how simple ingredients can transform everyday beauty routines. It’s clean, customizable, and actually beneficial for your lips. And unlike many plumping glosses, this one supports lip health instead of stripping it.
